The Ohio Investigative Unit organizes a day for children to interact with law enforcement officers and other professionals in a positive way. Children have an opportunity to learn about search and rescue canines, and explore police cruisers, fire trucks, command vehicles and aircraft on display. Brochures highlighting topics such as bicycle safety and the dangers of drugs and alcohol are also distributed.
Cops and Kids Day events in the past have been a great success. It’s an excellent opportunity for the children to learn what it’s like to be a police officer, pilot or firefighter in a fun way. This is a great chance for kids to talk to police officers and overcome any fears they may have of them. This event keeps growing bigger and bigger each year.
