Executive Director, Ohio Investigative Unit

 

Glenn Taylor was appointed as the Ohio Investigative Unit (OIU) executive director in September 2009. Taylor joined OIU in May 2007 as the deputy director in charge of northern Ohio operations.

OIU is a division of the Ohio Department of Public Safety, which includes the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Ohio Emergency Management Agency, Ohio Emergency Medical Services, the Ohio Homeland Security Division, the Ohio Investigative Unit and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. As part of its mission, the Investigative Unit also educates Ohio’s children and teenagers about the dangers of underage drinking through its “The Sober Truth” program.

Prior to his service with the Investigative Unit, Taylor spent 28 years with the Columbus Police Department, retiring from active duty in 2007. During his tenure, Taylor served as a detective in the homicide, vice and narcotics units, as well as the supervisor of the city’s dignitary protection detailed. He also served as an instructor at the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy.

He is a retired member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Capital City Lodge #9, Columbus. A Columbus native, Taylor is a member of the Columbus Academy’s 58th Recruit Class and a graduate of the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff and Command.

Taylor and his wife Deanna, reside in Columbus and enjoy spending time with their four children and five grandchildren.
